Study work

The department conducts educational process for 16 specialties mining and other sections and is a graduate of the specialization “Underground mining” of specialty: “21.05.04 – Mining” (7.05030101).

Mining engineer who graduated from university in this specialty, is the main leader and organizer of production in mining enterprises.

The training provides students with the knowledge to the extent necessary to ensure the technical progress in the coal industry on the basis of comprehensive mechanization and automation of production processes.

In the educational process is widely used by a variety of teaching aids (educational television, computer classes), models of development systems of coal seams, models of equipment for coal extraction.

Since the creation of the Department of its staff published more than 30 books and teaching aids.

Many of the books are original and unique in its kind.

So textbooks edited by prof. G. Goyhman «Parsing systems coal mining Donets Basin» (1950) and «Book of problems in underground coal mining» (1951), which went through five editions later, as well as textbooks, edited by prof. A. Naydysh «Dissection and preparation of coal seams» (1963) and prof. S. Lipkovich «Fundamentals of coal mine» for many years were the methodological basis for formulating and solving problems of mining production on the scale of the former Soviet Union and Ukraine.

Tutorials edited by prof. D. Dorohov «Technology of underground reservoir of mineral deposits» (1997) and prof. I. Yarembash «Production processes in mining faces coal mines» (1999), published in recent years, characterized by the fact that they summarized international and domestic experience of mining, presentation of the material is constructive rather than descriptive, and they allow solve mountain tasks in accordance with the regulations adopted by the coal industry.

Running a large amount of teaching work: being prepared for publication and published textbooks and teaching materials, development of new and constantly updated standard operating procedures and guidelines for the preparation of diploma and course projects, carrying out practical and laboratory studies, as well as programs for all types of practices.

Also, the department due attention paid to computer technology. The developed computer program allows students to test their knowledge and willingness to carry out laboratory work, reduce the cost of training time to perform routine computing and graphic works and use that time to perform activities of analytical, research. Developed multimedia tutorials, allowing both the audience and at students’ independent work «see» the process of opening a mine field, dividing it into pieces, preparing and carrying out development workings, the path of movement of air and coal. Particularly noteworthy visualization principle of operation of downhole equipment — Harvester, conveyor, powered support and cooperation of the equipment.
